1. There's somewhere to cool off in the neighbourhood
Who doesn't know the Muntkade? It's beautiful and great for a swim. You can lounge by the water's edge here. The Soia city beach is also very close by. The Leidse Rijn canal will be extended all the way to the centre. Three bridges will be built here.
Along the Amsterdam-Rijnkanaal there's currently a green strip with little going on. What a waste! This should be a lovely place to enjoy the sunshine with a book, exercise, cycle, walk and meet your neighbours. At the moment it's not yet possible to cycle or walk all the way from one end to the other. There are still very few facilities right now. But that could change. After all, the canal has a number of unique features
- wide views, thanks to the large expanse of water
- that outdoor-living feeling in the middle of the city
- the cargo ships on the canal bring it to life

2. You'll find the tastiest ingredients in the neighbourhood
On the Damstraat & in the Kanaalstraat you'll find great specialist shops, greengrocers, small supermarkets, the most delicious baklava and the most exotic ingredients. Do you know Morty's yet? You can even get vegan cheeses there. But gluten-free products too. The Turkish and Moroccan greengrocers for cheap fruit and veg. But also lovely bakeries with the most delicious sweet treats.
3. Hotspots in the neighbourhood
When we didn't have a home in Utrecht for a while, we stayed a few times at The Anthony. A lovely hotel with a large inner courtyard garden, a good bar and a wonderful restaurant. It really makes you very happy. Fancy a good cup of coffee while working from home? Koffie en Ik is a lovely coffee place in the neighbourhood. Delicious cakes, good coffee and a nice place to work. For a tasty pizza, go to Pizza Beppe or BastaCosi. Want to eat something special? Jasmijn & Ik has a really good Asian kitchen. Walk a little further and you're at Landhuis in de Stad in Park Oog in Al, or on the Croeselaan with its trendy concepts.

4. Centrally located
In Lombok you live very close to Utrecht Centraal station. It's not only the train connections that are good. The buses are within easy reach too. By car you're on the motorway in no time, and yet you live on the edge of Utrecht's city centre. From Lombok you can easily drive east, west or south. Utrecht is known for its historic city centre. It's centrally located, so the pressure of use is high. The city centre therefore needs to expand to keep meeting demand. The centre of Utrecht will have to expand. Two locations have been designated for this. The Lombokplein and the Beurskwartier. Around 3,500 homes will be built, interspersed with workspaces, food and drink, culture and neighbourhood shops, 2 parks for the Beurskwartier and a waterside square for the Lombokplein. Lombok is very centrally located. With the expansion of the centre, Lombok will become the new centre.

5. In full development
The west side is becoming a trendy & sustainable addition to the city centre. With the ever-growing group coming from Amsterdam and Utrecht West's central location relative to Amsterdam, Lombok & Nieuw Engeland are only going to get more popular. All these developments will give the west side an enormous boost. On top of that, there's another new-build project on the way: Cartesiusdriehoek. This will give the neighbourhood an extra boost. Lombok is expected to become increasingly popular in the coming years. This has a favourable effect on the value of the houses.
