Amsterdamsestraatweg: I myself come from a small farming village between Arnhem & Nijmegen. I'm not the only one from Doornenburg who moved to Utrecht and fell in love with the city. A fellow villager I went to primary school with fell in love with the Domstad (the city of the Dom tower) and with Serin Gokhan. That's how I started following Serin's business plans.

&Meer
Serin lives in a little side street off the Amsterdamsestraatweg. When she moved to the neighbourhood, there weren't many nice shops yet. Serin believes you have to take action yourself if you want to change something. The &meer shop is filled with everything she'd want to have herself or already has. There are lots of special and handmade things. The idea came about when she was looking for a plate hanger herself and couldn't find one. After searching online, she found an old man in Denmark who makes them by hand. Her first order sold out in no time. On top of that, she makes the plates herself. She scours flea markets and works on the plates. So you get truly unique pieces. When I asked in the shop whether I could have her make boards with the Domtoren on them, she nodded in agreement. How great is that?
Plate shop
As the name suggests (&meer means ‘and more’), &meer isn't just a plate shop. It's an interior shop with unique pieces. There are vintage pieces, tough-looking furniture and children's things, but also really cool serving boards. I've ordered quite a few; you can fully personalise them. That way my buyers and sellers get a unique gift. How great is that?

Amsterdamsestraatweg: a village in the city
Serin hopes the Amsterdamsestraatweg will become a village in the city. That people won't leave the neighbourhood to buy a present, but stay in the street. GYS, The Foodclub, Loaded and the Van Rijk family are already really hip. Winkel vol Winkeltjes, &meer's next-door neighbour, is definitely worth a visit too. The street keeps getting better. Through the Napoleonoverleg, all the ‘Straatmakers’ try to think together about improving the Amsterdamsestraatweg. At the moment, the municipality is checking for unlicensed facade advertising to improve the look of the street. Serin is actively committed to the Amsterdamsestraatweg. Together, we're making the street more and more fun.
Developments
The Wisselspoor new-build project will give the neighbourhood an extra boost. But the developments at the Cartesiusdriehoek will also contribute to the neighbourhood. In addition, several small squares are being created.
