Dikkertje was high on our wish list. Our window cleaner always told us how good the food was there, and we'd often heard it from people in the neighbourhood too. So we really had to try it for ourselves. We were coming back from a boat show in Lelystad and had both enjoyed some drinks in the sun with another estate agency. So it was time for a good meal. From the car we called ’t Dikkertje, we were spoken to kindly and there was still a table free for us.

Wonderful: no shared-dining concept, no hip interior, but the most delicious tzatziki with warm pitta breads, little meatballs, fresh gyros and the most delicious moussaka.

Gusto Casa is an estate agency that lives and works around the Amsterdamsestraatweg, and we love sharing our experiences of other great bars, restaurants and shops with you. ’t Dikkertje doesn't disappoint.
A piece of Greece on the Amsterdamsestraatweg
It's hard not to fall in love with the warmth and authenticity of Dikkertje. Founded by Jorgos, a passionate cook, though he calls himself more of a Greek cook, and now co-run by his daughter Nikki, Dikkertje is much more than just a restaurant. It's a place for lovers of Greek cuisine, where traditional dishes are prepared and served with love. Here it's not just about the aesthetics of the plated dish, but above all about the taste. Want little Greek paintings on your plate? Then you need to go to Oli Mazi.
A true family business
With a history of almost 20 years, Dikkertje is more than a restaurant; it's a home away from home. The family involvement is palpable, with Nikki set to take over from her father and her sisters also lending a hand now and then. Guests feel the warm hospitality so typical of Greek culture and experience the intimate atmosphere that is often compared to a cosy living room.

One of Dikkertje's greatest assets is undoubtedly its perfect location on the lively Amsterdamsestraatweg. The ongoing development of the area has contributed to a growing number of visitors, both local residents and passers-by. The fact that many new homes are being built in the neighbourhood adds to the ever-growing group of guests who become curious about the unique experience Dikkertje offers.
What will the future bring?
While Dikkertje continues to focus on spoiling its guests, the restaurant cherishes the ambition of reaching and surprising a wider audience. The dream of building an even larger clientele, and perhaps expanding in the future, remains a constant source of inspiration for the dedicated team.
The best-kept secret of the Amsterdamsestraatweg?
Although Dikkertje is itself one of the best-kept secrets of the Amsterdamsestraatweg, Nikki reveals her personal favourite: the delicious sandwiches at Brandstof, a must-try.
