Karibu Café: Yentl Duijn is 31 and has been an entrepreneur since February 2018, and, not to forget, the owner of the café. Karibu is an oasis of green amid the concrete of the city. Yentl lives in Lombok herself and always dreamed of having her own breakfast and lunch bar. With her breakfast and lunch bar she wants to connect with people in the neighbourhood and become a meeting place for people who want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city for a while.

One of a kind
Yentl thinks Utrecht is special because the city really is one of a kind in everything it has to offer. No mass-tourism scenes. Utrecht has a historic character. The whole city centre is a fairy tale, with all its hidden courtyards and, of course, the canals.
Karibu Café on the Oudenoord
Karibu Café on the Oudenoord makes Utrecht a little greener and more exotic. At Karibu Café people can tuck themselves away among all the greenery and escape the hustle and bustle of the city while enjoying a delicious brekkie!
Healthy and tasty
Yentl started Karibu Café in March 2018, and from Wednesday to Sunday you can go there for an all-day brekkie that's both tasty and healthy, combined with coffee from The Village and/or a freshly made juice from their own juice bar. From Friday to Sunday you can also enjoy drinks with delicious (vegetarian, vegan and ‘regular’!) bites, a Vedett on tap or a lovely wine selected by a local sommelier.

The future is still a secret for now…
Karibu is temporarily located on the Oudenoord, but the plans for the future are certainly not temporary. Yentl is keeping those plans a secret for now.
In 5 years' time
Asked what she expects of the neighbourhood in 5 years' time, she answers: “I expect that in 5 years this neighbourhood will practically be part of the centre and will be buzzing more, thanks to small entrepreneurs who want to make the neighbourhood a bit more fun”. For Yentl, the most beautiful spot in Utrecht is the Oude Hortus and, of course, Rhijnauwen.
Utrecht's best-kept secret
According to Yentl, Utrecht's best-kept secret might well be Karibu. Karibu's best-kept secret is that, given the atmospheric and unique space, you might not expect to be able to eat and drink so well there at a very affordable price. Everything is prepared with lots of love and care, and you can really taste it!
Keep an eye on our listings, because maybe you'll soon be living within walking distance of Karibu Café and can enjoy a delicious breakfast or a cup of coffee every day.
