Lunetten, that's far away, isn't it? And a bit staid? I hear lots of first-time buyers say it. No, I really think Lunetten is too far. Zuilen and Hoograven are fine. Rivierenwijk too…. Guys, have you ever cycled from Lunetten into town? No, I thought not. Because it's really not that bad at all! In about 10 minutes you're at the Ledig Erf. If you work at the hospital or at the Uithof, it's a top location. Lunetten is really worth considering. And I'm happy to tell you why.

Corona….
I really can't bear to hear that word any more. Funny, too: I was just about to book a hotel. The hotel was called Corona, so I didn't book it on principle. We're all searching en masse for entertainment. We want weekends away, bike rides, walks… We're looking for all kinds of fun things to keep ourselves amused. Have you heard of working-from-home depression? I hadn't, but a friend told me recently that she was suffering from it. So an extra study was high on her wish list too, so that she'd be free in the house after work. We've started taking more ‘ommetjes’ (little strolls). As estate agents, we're asked more often than ever whether there's room for a racing bike. Tours past nice cafés and restaurants are more popular than ever. But above all, enjoying the greenery around us. Lunetten has a slightly lower price per square metre than average. As a result, in Lunetten it's often possible to bag an extra room. The neighbourhood is also exceptionally green. So you nearly always look out onto greenery. There are 4 really beautiful forts here and you're very close to Amelisweerd & Rhijnauwen. Do you know Down Under? You're there within a few minutes by bike too. From Lunetten you're in town in no time, but you're out in the greenery in no time as well. During the coronavirus period we really came to realise that we have to find our entertainment in all the beauty nature has to offer, and in our own homes.

Lunetten is a neighbourhood full of ambition
Lunetten is a neighbourhood with ambition. The neighbourhood is now 43 years old. When it was built, Lunetten was already a very progressive neighbourhood. The human scale & small scale were important when the project was realised. In town planning terms, Lunetten is also called a ‘bloemkoolwijk’ (cauliflower neighbourhood), because it's made up entirely of small-scale clusters of homes. Social cohesion is very important here. There are lots of woonerven (shared residential streets) & lots of greenery. It's an engaged neighbourhood. Various working groups from the neighbourhood have together made a Roadmap & Cartoon to show what the plans are for the most sustainable neighbourhood in Utrecht.

Why is Lunetten so attractive?
Utrecht can sometimes be quite stony. We're looking for more and more greenery. But when you're young, of course, you also want to live as close as possible to the buzz. In Lunetten you can live somewhere super green and very close to the centre of Utrecht. The greenery of the Beatrixpark and Park de Koppel in Lunetten means residents love living there and are proud of their neighbourhood. So the ambition is to preserve and strengthen the parks and the greenery. Lunetten wants a good balance between peace and liveliness in the neighbourhood. On average, people who live in Lunetten stay in their homes longer than residents of other neighbourhoods. That says it all, of course. The only thing people in the neighbourhood used to complain about now and then was the amenities, such as nice cafés and restaurants. But with the arrival of Op Zuid and the developments at Rotsoord, that has been completely made up for. We mentioned Down Under earlier too. A good beach bar 5 minutes by bike from your home, or a good place with a terrace by the water? What more could you want?

Lunetten boring? No! It's a lovely place to live
Queuing up en masse as a first-time buyer for a small apartment, because you don't want to be labelled boring? I'd choose Lunetten: Lunetten has everything and you buy that bit more space. The apartments and houses often have a good, large storage room too, and it's easy to get to. You're out in the greenery in no time. So you can do a nice loop on your racing bike in your lunch break. There are plenty of places to enjoy your free time by the water, and you're in town in no time. So add Lunetten to your search profile quickly! And as a first-time buyer, find your dream home in this neighbourhood!
