Street art around the Amsterdamsestraatweg

Housing market

The area around the Amsterdamsestraatweg keeps getting cooler. To my mind, street art is really on the rise. We are seeing more and more of it appear in the city. And more and more people really appreciate this form of urban art.

Jan is de Man has been busy around the Straatweg. But he's not the only one who's been hard at work. The neighbourhood has gained lots of cool murals. They give the neighbourhood a great atmosphere. People stop for a moment to look at them and, not to forget, they make your evening stroll just that little bit more fun.

Daalsepark

Here you'll find the Daalsepark. The Daalsepark doesn't just have painted sheep. It also has a cool mural. A mural with the map of Utrecht has been painted on the side wall.

A combination of Utrecht icons

Right at the start of the Amsterdamsestraatweg there are already two artworks. Just before the Aldi, an artwork of iconic buildings of the Amsterdamsestraatweg has been painted on the wall. It makes for a much more cheerful welcome as you drive in.

Fruit and vegetables

The Albert Heijn at the start of the Amsterdamsestraatweg has opened a lunchroom above the shop. In doing so, it also immediately helped make the entrance to the Amsterdamsestraatweg even more cheerful and attractive. Doesn't it make you happy straight away when you pass by here?

Blue women

You'll find sultry-looking blue women in the Dirkje Maria straat, just around the corner from Mahler. It gives the neighbourhood just that little bit of a raw, industrial edge. How cool is that?

The bookcase

Perhaps one of the best known in Utrecht. The bookcase, around the corner from Winkel vol Winkeltjes and &Meer. This mural even features in the Lonely Planet. The bookcase shows the favourite books of local residents. How cool is that? This mural was made possible by the Gemeente Utrecht's initiatives fund.

Trains

If you head over to the ’t Wisselspoor side on the 2e Daalsedijk, you'll find really cool murals of trains. They remind the neighbourhood of its origins. The people who came to live in the neighbourhood mainly worked for the railways. Now a whole new neighbourhood is coming, with lots of old features of the former Werkspoor. How cool is that?
